In a series of desperate attempts to regain their lost territories, France declared war on Navarra again and again, each time losing yet more provinces. By 1670 France was reduced to Paris, Schwyz, Dalmatia and Ragusa, along with some North American colonies. This gave Navarra a very bad reputation and it was all the Navarrans could do to keep Spain as an ally. They were also plagued by trade embargoes throughout this time.
