| Ah! With this walk the memories are getting clearer, and records also are definite from here on. This was of course done from Clashnessie Crusader Camp, during my second summer there. I remember that I'd been reading Watership Down when I did this climb and the barren rocky summit of Ben More Assynt seemed exactly like the country where the Black Rabbit of Inlé came from! Another classic memory was the joke the delivery of which was probably Wilf Tyler's main reason for climbing these mountains at all. At the top of Conival he announced: "Well gentlemen - the Conival is over and now we begin the Ben More Assynt..." |
