Crianlarich

26th-29th April 2022

Home
Howard had been trying to arrange a date for his Last Munro, Meall nan Tarmachan, since just before the Covid lockdown in 2020, and finally the date was fixed for the 26th April 2022. I decided to make it part of a week's walking in the Crianlarich area. I was travelling to Scotland on the new Lumo train service between Kings Cross and Edinburgh, the only problem being that I had booked myself onto the 05.45 train from Kings Cross without actually checking how I was going to get to London at that time in the morning. I ended up travelling overnight, leaving Worthing at 10pm and having to wait four hours in St Pancras International. Once in Edinburgh I got the Megabus to Glasgow then, after several hours there I got the train to Crianlarich. However, at Dalmuir some troubled passenger assaulted the conductor, and everyone had to leave the train, now a "crime scene", and wait two hours for the next train. I finally arrived at Inverardran B&B at about 9pm. I had been without much sleep for 42 hours. Needless to say, I slept well that night - and I also got my return ticket from Glasgow to Crianlarich refunded in full through the Delay Repay system, so it wasn't all bad!
