In 1626 the Thai Empire went to war against China (yellow) over a diplomatic insult. By 1627 they had annexed China's allies the Shan States, Kachin province, which had recently broken away from Tibet (khaki). Then in 1629 they took Guanxi and the trading centre of Guangdong from China. In 1633 Tibet accepted to become vassals of the Thai Empire. In 1638 Koch was taken from Jaunpur (bright green) who had taken it from Bengal (dark green). In 1647 Tibet was annexed, then in 1668 Jaunpur was vassalized at the end of another war. In 1666 some Thai nobles who allied with China provoked another war in which the Thai Empire acquired Yunnan and Guizhou. China had meanwhile been invaded from the north by Manchu and had very little territory left. Thai income by 1670 was 178.7 per month.
